jenifer daniels is a communication professional with over 10 years of experience in public relations, community relations, cause marketing, and political communication – earring her the moniker of ‘the friendraiser’.
jenifer has held various communication positions at the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Kalamazoo County Chamber of Commerce, the Detroit Historical Museums & Society, Wayne State University, and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library. jenifer’s professional highlight include her time as the former Assistant Director of Community Relations at Wayne State University, a PACE research institute, where she was integral in promoting the urban mission of the University through building, developing, and sustaining partnerships in the Detroit metropolitan area and was nominated for Crain’s Detroit Business ‘20 in their 20s’ while serving in this capacity.
jenifer has also spent over seven years as trainer and educator teaching communication, diversity, and entrepreneurship. jenifer currently serves as adjunct faculty at Central Piedmont Community College and Limestone College; teaching public speaking, intro to communication, and interpersonal communication.
jenifer leads an active life in non-profit service as a graduate of the Arts & Science Council of Charlotte Mecklenburg’s Cultural Leadership Training Program (class IV) and as a board member of Historic Charlotte, Inc., serving as advocacy chair. jenifer is a current member of the City of Charlotte Neighborhood Matching Grants committee, and former member of the City of Charlotte Community Relations committee and the Mecklenburg County (NC) Information Services & Technology Advisory committee. jenifer also shares her nonprofit communications knowledge with an industry-driven blog ‘the art of friendraising‘.
jenifer also leads an active political life as a blogger for Everyday Citizen, a graduate of the White House Project’s ‘Georgia Go Run’ training (2009), and as a trainer at Netroots Nation 10. jenifer campaigned for an open seat on the Charlotte Mecklenburg Board of Education (District 2 – 2008). jenifer served as communication director for three city council and two state representative campaigns; leading several candidates to victory.
jenifer’s professional and civic work has landed her spots on television stations WJBK (Fox 2 Detroit affiliate), WDIV (NBC Detroit affiliate), and WXYZ (Scripps Howard Detroit affiliate); as well as radio stations WJR & WCHB (Detroit) and Sirius/XM’s “Make It Plain w/ Mark Thompson“. jenifer has also provided opinion pieces in the Detroit Free Press, been quoted Charlotte Observer, and featured in Charlotte Magazine as a member of “Charlotte’s new social elite”. jenifer was also featured on YouTube Live – youtube.com’s 1st Annual Live broadcast.
jenifer received a B.S. in sports/entertainment/event management from Johnson & Wales University, a M.A. in communication from Wayne State University, and a certificate in nonprofit management from Duke University. jenifer is currently pursuing a graduate certificate in professional communication at East Carolina University as she prepares for a Ph.D. in strategic communication in Fall 2012.
